Watercolour and lasercut sample. I’m trying to figure out how to combine the print and laser cut techniques and think simpler may be better. 

The lovely folks from CUSTHOM came in last week to talk about their practice and do some design workshops with us. They introduced us to the digital embroidery machine and this is my first little sample!

I didn’t think digital embroidery was for me at all but after looking at their work and seeing the actual process I have a pretty new outlook on it and would love to experiment with it in the future. 

Prints came out better than expected!

I’ve cut out quite a few of these little trees recently and hung them in my above my desk. Layered together I think they create a really interesting space so I might play around with them a bit more. 

You might be able to see a bit of Rob Ryan’s work in the background. He’s been a great reference for me having never really worked with paper cutting before, and his beard is pretty brilliant too!

4 layer screen on its way!

Laser etched rose garland similar to the mirrored illustration I posted below. I want to use flowers to frame the central images, and by working on multiple pieces of card I can separate the layers.

Moving illustrations about in Photoshop before tracing them in Illustrator and thought this design mirrored and overlapping looked pretty neat.

Owl in progress. I’ve started looking at the story of Blodeuwedd from Welsh mythology and my work could always use some more animals in it!
